Craft Work Restaurant

EST.

2013

When restaurateur Hugh Yaro discovered the vacant former Harlequin Cafe located at 8047 Agnes Avenue in West Village, he knew it would make an ideal location for a new neighborhood gathering spot. With a DDF loan, a Retail Readiness grant from DEGC and support from The Villages Community Development Corporation, Craftwork opened in December 2013.

Craft Work’s menu features accessible, seasonal comfort dishes from local, sustainable purveyors as well as wine, beer & specialty cocktails and has quickly become a thriving neighborhood hub as well as a destination for diners throughout the metro area.

Craft Work is just one example of how DDF collaborates with community partners to support small businesses that improve the quality of life in neighborhoods. Craft Work is open for dinner 7 days per week as well as brunch on Sundays.

“We could not have opened Craft Work without the help of a strong community of people that believed in our project. Detroit Development Fund was first people on board financially and they said yes when many other lending institutions were afraid of our concept and location. A big thank you to the team at Detroit Development Fund for believing in and supporting new business in Detroit.”
