Since 1995, Linda Smith has performed as the Executive Director of USNAP BAC Inc., a non-profit organization servicing the residents of Detroit. As a result of Linda's commitment to neighborhood revitalization, U SNAP BAC Inc. has built, repaired, and demolished hundreds of abandoned and uninhabitable homes located on the East Side of Detroit. Linda's commitment towards neighborhood revitalization has been recognized with various honors on a local and national level that include, but not limited to, the following: Terrence R. Duvernay Award from Michigan State Housing Development Authority, White House Empowerment Zone Award, Spirit of Detroit Award, and recognition as one of the Most 100 influential African American Women in Metropolitan Detroit.

 

Linda is a graduate of the Achieving Excellence in Community Development Program at John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Furthermore, Linda has been appointed to several Boards and Committees to provide a high level of expertise and leadership to the neighborhood revitalization process. Recently, Linda was appointed by President Barack Obama's Administration to the Detroit Blight Removal Task Force. The Blight Removal Task Force developed a straightforward and detailed implementation plan to remove every blighted residential structure, commercial structure, public building and clean up every blighted vacant lot in the City of Detroit quickly while using an environmentally-conscious approach.
